Still alive

But I bet you were worried, no?

I have Plans for a huge knitting-related post to satisfy the clamouring hordes (hi, Amanda!) but that involves pictures, which involves getting home with daylight left* and that involves the traffic not being so bad that I just want to get out of my car and bite someone.

In the meantime, stare at the picture below until it starts to move, and repeat over and over "I'm going to Calgary on the May long weekend... I'm going to Calgary on the May long weekend..."

* Having a range of tall hills to the west really impacts the time and duration of sunsets. Who knew?

    Hmm, mountains and sunsets eh...

If only you had some previous experience with...

    THE GRAND CANYON

    or something similar

So are you knitting that picture, or what?

Insert "Verbing Weirds Language" quote here.

--W, trying to think up additional reasons to go to Calgary on the May long, other than just visiting. Practicality and all that. ;)

Oh Man! You didn't tell me you know walterjackson9335050301! I've been wanting to get my next college degree in less than two weeks, too! No more of this waiting around for things like actual learning to happen!

You've been holding out on me.

You're coming to Calgary and you don't have my phone number! < emo tear >

Chris: I admit I've become impacted^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h affected by the constant use of jargon around me, but "impact" is also a verb.

Read the note at the bottom of that link too; how amusing that we are on different sides than usual of our prescriptive/descriptive language debate! :)

Oh, and W? I think I might become offended, if I let myself, at the suggestion that driving to another province to pretend to be a mythical creature for a night is a perfectly legitimate action, while doing it to see a friend who's come ALL THE WAY FROM CALIFORNIA and that you HAVEN'T SEEN FOR MONTHS needs any justification. Hmph. :)

"It bothers me because I have yet to hear a sentence where it is used where there isn't a better word."

I will certainly concede this point, and strive for more literary elegance in the future. :)

Amy...being a mythical creature of the night...well, it's that it happens at an Event. A Thing. You know?

Wheras visiting...it doesn't get a capital letter. If you were coming into town to hold an Event of some type, whether it had mythical creatures of the night or not, it might be different.

I don't know why, but mentally Structured Socializing always seems to have a huge jump on Unstructured Socializing. Maybe it links to one of the geek fallacies or something... ;)
